Notes & News
This is the Oldest Page on this site. It dates back to when I first hosted this site on Geocities, under the name Dallen's Ultima Page.
The page itself has undergone many format changes, but the content is still the same. Way down at the bottom are the first updates, without dates as I didn't think to add them. Wow. What a pointless piece of information eh?
May 8, 2007:
I finally got around to putting this site back online. The layout is slightly changed visually, though it's much different code-wise. I eliminated the tables wherever I could, and replaced them with <div> tags, as is proper. CSS is used much more then it was, and I managed to use it for the image rollovers on the navbar, ripping out the javascript in the process. The whole site should validate to HTML 4.01 Transitional, now. Most of the content is missing, since I haven't finished converting it to the new layout. Some of it I won't bother with, some of it will need to be updated, and some of it will need to be finished. It'll be a big job, if I ever get around to it.
In the meantime, if you're looking for information about Ultima, I direct you firstly to Ultimainfo.net, a vast collection of ultima lore, and secondly to the Ring of Dragons. If you seek information about me, then visit my main site, The Codewarp.
June 24 2003: Fixed a problem with some of the ASP used by Tarlokegrod. Apparently the downloads, guestbook and counter didn't work. Should be fixed now.
May 24 2003: Finished the new site layout. Redid a lot of the site using ASP. Ditched the JavaScript search engine and got an ASP one from Web Wiz Guide. Added all the sites in the Ring of Dragon's to it, I'll let other people add their own sites, since they can. Finally figured out a secret that was eluding me, and redid the music system with ASP and JavaScript. I also realized that the Trilogy Page had no content, so I disabled the link. That'll be my next project, finishing that section of the site.
May 18 2003: Added some fancy JavaScript rollover effects to the Quick links. Made a new banner image for use on the topsites list (and anywhere else someone needs a banner for my site). Head on over to the list and check it out...
May 17 2003: Finished converting the download script to ASP. Download's are back up now. All download counters were reset to zero.
May 16 2003: The bloody download script still isn't done, I enabled directory browsing for the files so they are downloadable... as soon as I puzzle out how to use Access DB's with ASP, I'll have the script done :)
May 11 2003: Well I've finally seen the light and decided to ditch the slow Miva Mia server I was using and move everything over onto IIS. Of course, IIS doesn't support Miva Script.... and the plug-in to allow it to refuses to install, so... I replaced all the slow, cumbersome Miva Script with smooth, fast ASP Scripting! I've got everything converted except the download script, which I am hard at work on you can be certain. And finally, I've added a guest book (Something I never could do with Miva, the secret eluded me). Feel free to sign it...
April 6 2003: Whew has it been a while. Today's update consists of a rearrangement of the files on the site. Now, the slow crappy server your used to will only be running Miva Scripts, and another computer on my network running IIS on Win2k will be hosting everything else. Although the Miva server will still slow things down, you should notice an overall speedup of the site, as the slow server no longer has to handle images and files, just Miva Script.
September 29 2002: Finally finished the music area, you can now listen to any song from any ultima, without downloading it!
July 26 2002: Just got back. Added a bunch of downloads from The Other Codex. Made other minor updates.
July 10 2002: Went through the Ultima Site Search Engine and cleaned out all links that were outdated. I updated the links to sites that had moved, but if I couldn't find it I simply deleted them. Alas, it now searches only 143 sites. Half of what it once did. But these 143 work. I'll be moving the search engine over to a Miva Script system soonish. Oh ya, I'm leaving for 2 weeks tomorrow, so if you email me don't expect a reply before then :P
July 9 2002: Well since I went to all the trouble to add this page into the new site, I might as well update it eh? Added a bit more information to the page about the song "Stones".
July 8 2002: Holy Crow! Its been a full year! Well site's been moved to a new server, in fact its -MY- server. Its been up for a quite a while, I just finally got around to adding the notes page to it. Sites been completely re-done, downloads added, please check them out. Much of the site has been enhanced with Miva Script. Updated the maps page with new Maps that were cleaned up and made more readable by Micro Dragon. I "acquired" them at The Other Codex. I didn't use all of them since in some cases I liked the old ones better. Check them out. Well aside from that there's to many new things. Have a look around eh?
July 3 2001: Woohoo! I am back online!
July 1 2001: Well, I am finally moved in to my new house in Red Deer. Its not that bad. The phone company won't be here until Wednesday, so I won't be uploading this until then. Lack of internet sucks. I do have a lot more time on the internet, so I will be downloading every Ultima-related thing I can find. Then I'll upload it them to my site. My downloads page is back!
June 19 2001: I got Pics of Ultima: Escape from Mt Drash front and Back of Box's, Cassettes front and back, and some other pics, from the Hidalgo Trading Company Britannian Branch. Updated Guild Site.
June 18 2001: I started Playing UO again, back on Asgard. my old Guild SuperWarped Mining & Smith Co. merged with Order of Draconia to form Order of SuperWarped Draconia. I have already got a Website up for it, at oswd.tarlokegrod.net. I Also Updated my site a bit, redid the ring of Dragons links Set up.
June 13 2001: I noticed that my Ring of Dragons webring links weren't working, it was because Yahoo took over and changed it. I went and got my ring links to work, but I didn't like the set up yahoo used, so I kept it the same, just changed the links. So yes the webring links do work, they just looks the same.
June 9 2001: I added pages for Ultima 0 - Akalabeth, Ultima Underworld's I & II, and Ultima - Escape from Mt Drash. I got the Pics for Drash and Akalabeth from Tom's Ultima Page. And Does anyone know what the hell a VIC 20 is? I assume it was an early computer.
June 6 2001: I set up some polls, created at www.htmlgear.com. I also got a great idea... since I will have more time on the internet after I move, I think I am going to go to some place that gives 100Mb free space for websites, and use it to host a whole ton of downloads. Then I'll have the biggest selection of Ultima Downloads on the web! Maybe I'll set up a poll for it....
June 2 2001: My Mother and step-dad are getting a divorce, so I get to move to Red Deer! Yippee! NOT! I am downright Pissed. If I even see a Moongate... phhhht. I'm outta here. I get to leave all my friends... who's gonna make the smart-ass comments around here with me gone? Who's gonna be the hermit? The Anti-Social? The Computer Genius? I fill all these positions.
May 30 2001: I changed the news page. I set up an Ultima Topsites List, click on the vote image on the main page to go to the site, where you can add your site (And get me another vote in the process ;) ) I went to gamespy.com and got the whole story on the Origin Wake, the UO2 Cancellation, and pics as well. I added them to the site, Click here for them.
May 23 2001: Been updating the site. Set up an Ultima Topsites List. UO2 was cancelled, and most of the design team fired :( A "wake" was held for Origin. Can be found somewhere at gamespy.com. Most of the original Ultima game makers are now gone, origin is a shadow of its former self.
May 15 2001: I have added tons of files to the trilogy pages. Sites I have listed from are credited. I got some domain names set up, courtesy of Namezero.com. www.tarlokegrod.net will take you to my page, warpedsoftware.tarlokegrod.net will take you directly to my programming pages, and my new e-mail is warped@tarlokegrod.net. Not bad for 5 minutes work, eh?
May 5 2001: It has been Decided! My downloads page will not be updated again! I have began cross referencing file from other sites on my Trilogy Pages. Maybe I will add the files to my search engine. too. I will keep the downloads I have. On a personal subject, I got a new drive for my E-Machine! A 5 1/4" Floppy drive! yes, the REALLY OLD floppies that were HUGE. My year 2000 Computer can read and write those 1980's disks :)
April 30 2001: Added some new info on the song stones. See the stones page for details. Also added some files from The Other Codex to the trilogy pages.
April 7 2001: I may decide to discontinue my downloads page. For one thing Geocities only gives me 15 MB Free, so I don't have a lot of room to begin with. Second thing, It takes FOREVER to upload even the smallest ZIP file to Geocities. Third and Final thing, I hate updating things :) If I do decide to discontinue it then this site will become a big Cross Reference to other sites, files, etc on the net.
April 1 2001: Good news bad news time! Good news is that the Ultima Resource Page is not going totally offline. It is still there, at ultima.cybrmall.net/ultima/ some links don't work Olray is working on that. Bad news is that the downloads were removed from the site, as it was costing lots to host 60 Mb of files.
March 29 2001: Olray Dragon, owner of the Unofficial Ultima Resource Page, has announced that it will be going down for good sometime in April. Mega bummer, cause this is one of the best Ultima Sites on the web, in the top 5 easy. check it out while you still can at ultima.cybrmall.net. Post a message at the board asking for it not to go down.
March 26 2001: Someone thought it would be "funny" to change my Passport password for MSN. I promptly fixed it, tracked them down, and delivered a "present" to them for their enjoyment. One should NEVER Piss off a programmer. Oh, by-the-way, I have noticed that there have been lots of deadly computer virus's out this year... not that I am implying anything, of course...
March 23 2001: I have made my choice! I am going to build this site up to the best on the web, informationaly speaking. Graphics can come later :). Expect to see more music, maps, boxes, info and more. Fixed a bug with the Guest book, it works again!
March 8 2001: Totally Revamped the Navigation System using frames, created a really cool Animated Title, fixed a bunch of spelling mistakes and page errors.
March 3 2001: Sorry I haven't been updating site, I have been playing UO. Warped Software, my company, now has a site, Click Here to see it. Ultima SG is coming along nicely. It has been Switched to a Graphics Tile based game, similar to Ultima IV. That's it for now.
October 12 2000: Its been a while! Version 1.5A of Ultima - The Silver Gate is ready for download. please report bugs to me. The sit has been neglected a bit, I started playing UO and it is taking all my time.
August 21 2000: Sorry its been so long. I've been really busy working on The Warhammer Roster Card program, and Ultima - The Silver Gate (a game I'm making). The site is undergoing major changes, as well.
June 17 2000: I found some Ultima pages that are worth a look. Two are projects to run Ultima VII in windows and other modern Operating systems, And one other is to modify Ultima VII to play online! One other one is dedicated to finding out EVERYTHING about Ultima VII (file formats, scripting, code, etc.). Look at my Links page to see for yourself!
June 6 2000: I just discovered Warhammer, the game of Fantasy battles! You start by building an army, painting it, and then fighting with it! You can collect a variety of armies, from the Noble Bretonnians (my favorite) to the Evil forces of Chaos. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Ultima. check out my Links page to find out more.
June 5 2000: I decided to create my own Ultima Game in Qbasic. It is a text based game (like Zork), and if you want to help, let me know. You can submit ideas Here
May 30 2000: I hang out at The Weyrmount sometimes. You can find me at the Gate or at the Blue Boar, or in my Lair. Look for Warped_Dragon
May 20 2000: I am currently teaching myself Qbasic. It is a easy to learn programming language that gives C a run for its money. If you ever wanted to learn programming, check out my links page to find some great Qbasic sites and start teaching yourself! Today, I started adding dates to my news!
I'm a little busy during the summer, so there won't be very many changes until winter.
If you have a link, or file you want to put on my site, e-Mail me to let me know, or e-mail the file as an attachment, and, if I deem it good, I'll add it to my site (meaning is it Ultima related?).
If you find any bugs, LET ME KNOW!! The Text color and Background color don't show up on some of my pages (the text is black and the background is white. It should be text=gray and background=black) on Internet Explorer Version 4. Don't know why.
If you have a complaint or suggestion, let me know. It will help me make the site better. I don't have regular access to the internet, so if you e-mail me, be prepared to wait a while. I had to copy all this stuff to floppies to get it on the web, so some things may not work.
